Late nights
Today I got to scrub in properly on a surgery! It was exciting to get to practice all that we've learned and put them to use. It was supposed to be a foreign body removal, but once we got in there there wasn't anything to remove! Though the pup did have some diarrhoea in his colon, which was expressed during the surgery. It was pretty bloody and the dog ended up being parvo negative, so he was put into isolation since we don;t actually know what he had. I also ran some PCVs and did cytology on bloody fluid (presumably urine from a cats abdomen) to see what was going on in there. Also a dog came in who ate concrete! Why a dog would want to eat concrete is beyond me, but it happened so there you go. His prognosis looks pretty grim based on the print out from poison control, so when I come in today we'll see what ended up happening to him. Its a shame because hes a pretty sweet dog, so we'll see how that goes. We had to euthanize a kitten which was pretty sad. Also a cat was in that had fractured his pelvis, so I got to see those radiographs. I tried to get out of there on time for once, but got caught up reading the cytology, so I still got out a midnight, but its only for a few more days then I can sleep!
