Surgery day
Today I got to sit in on an ex lap on a 18 month of cocker. He had vomited a sock the previous day, so they were concerned he had a foreign body, and when we scanned his abdomen there was some fluid in his intestine so we decided to go in. Also previously this dog had had a foreign body removal because he had eaten a bunch of gravel. So we took him into the theater and they taught and then let me take the blood pressure, so new skill! When we got in there there were adhesions everywhere that had strangulated the dogs intestines to the point that they were purple, so everyone was pretty glad that we didn't wait until tomorrow to do the surgery. We ended up removing the adhesions and also did an intestinal resection of an area that was dead. So it was pretty cool to see that. The whole surgery took an hour and a half, so it took up a bunch of time. Other than that there wasn't a ton of stuff. A dog came in with hypocalcaemia from having fat puppies draining her dry, and the odd vomiting dog, but nothing really exciting.

Sounds like you did on a dog what I've was doing on people for the last two months! Adhesions SUCK!
