one giant vertebral column

some friends and i went to go see avengers assemble last night (though i can't even read the title without wanted to yell NEWS TEAM ASSEMBLE!) but i digress. it was fairly good, i wasn't particularly invested either way, but since everyone was going i caved to the peer pressure and decided that it was probably good to get out of the house, since i've basically locked myself in my room to study. anywho the alien monster thing that flies around at the end is literally a head attached to a flying vertebral column, dorsal spinous processes and all, so we all took turns looking at each other and whispering vertebral column! (since its going to be on out exam on may 10th). the joys of being a vet student! other than that its been fairly boring here, met with my mentor, did a who wants to be a millionaire review thang with neil, and had open anatomy lab yesterday, which was just us non-horsey people standing around horse legs and declaring that everything from the cannon bone down was just gay, super gay, in fact the whole horse leg, the worst! trying to find the difference between sheep/pig/cow forelimb bones, other than size, in case theres a bunch of comparative stuff on the exam, etc.  so thats pretty much it, almost done with this year, crazy how fast its gone!

Springtime in Glasgow!

Done with the first round of exams! These were our OSCE exams, which are practical exams where we have to go from station to station doing things like suturing, horse leg nerve blocks, cattle body condition scoring, snake handling, etc. Hopefully we all did well, but who know, we have a tendency to over think these things (like did I approach the giant creepy plastic horse like a real horse, or did it matter that I didn't? Was that person in the room supposed to be a client, there WASNT another person in the room when I went in! etc) But it's over now, nothing left to do but wait, and study for the next round of exams, yay! Too bad the weather has been so beautiful! After 2 days of very stressful OSCEs we went to city centre, had lunch, then took the subway back and walked through the botanics and went inside the greenhouses which are beautiful! And the weather doesn't seem to want to stop being lovely, but in Glasgow that doesn't mean very much, it could very well rain tomorrow! And tomorrow is the Vet School rodeo and I get to man the reptile tent! So I get to play with snakes all day yay!

Last Day Before OSCEs!!!!!

Emotions oscillating between feeling completely prepared and feeling completely unprepared! But fortunately I got a care package from my mum with just what I needed! That being a wee stuffed lamb that I could practice casting and haltering. Talk about perfect timing! Glad all this money is going into me learning how to do rope tricks! ;)

casting a cow (sheep in this case!)
 mom knows whats up
more suturing, his arms were in the way
halter holla!

Getting Back in the Swing of Things

So I've been back for a week now, though its flown by! And Glasgow is up to its typical shenanigans ie: sunny one day, snowing (and I mean actually snowing) the next! I even got caught in the rain during my run the other day, what weather hubris I have now! My friends and I went flat hunting today and put a deposit down on a great flat! So, assuming all goes well with the application and such, we have a place! Its so great! Neglected to take pictures, but we will once we're all moved in! Other than that, mostly just studying, cleaning, the usual. We went to a cool new coffee place today that was quite nice and made friends with the woman behind the counter, a funny Brit who was complaining about the weather incessantly. Other than that pretty boring, certainly not as interesting as my dad! (though I am having fun plotting his trip, I need to get a proper map so I can connect the dots!) Also all the flowers are in bloom here, making it very lovely to walk around!
