Anthrax!

It's been a pretty uneventful week so far, trying to get my stuff together and start working more. We had PM room today, and we made it out in under an hour! It was amazing! Nothing particularyy interesting, some really spongy lungs, fluky livers, the usual. Then today SCAVMA had a one health talk about antrax, which was pretty interesting, and probably good review for epidemioloy. Apparently you can get anthrax form heroin, so the more you know! Other than that some more talks tomorrow and lots of class, pretty chill week here in Glasgow

Another Successful Vet Ball

This past weekend was the weekend of dreams! It started Thurday with Mr. Vet school, which is always a good time and one of our friends won! So thats 2 titles that our class has! It was much better than last year, though not as good as first year, but nothing ever will be. Then last night was vet ball and that was really fun! Not everyone from my class went since we had our halfway ball, but it was a good time, and I got to ceilidh a bunch, which is always a good time!

War Horse!

Yesterday we went to go see war horse in Edinburgh and it was pretty crazy. I really liked it, but I was not aware that there was quite so much war and there was less horse than I had anticipated. That being said it was really well done, the people were amazing singers and the actors were really good. Its definitely fun to get out of town with people and it was nice to have a night out in Edinburgh! Also I met 2 corgis at school, and it was amazing!
Today it snowed! it didnt really stick, though it may still be snowing tonight so we'll see how that goes. And then we FINALLY got the lecture from school about what electives to pick for 5th year!! There's still some information that we are missing about details of all of the choices, but one more step! So that's pretty crazy! We get some more info towards the end of the month and then at the end of March they're due! And then by June we should get our 5th years schedule! Bananas!

So much class!

Thurs was a crazy long day, we went form 9-5, which doesnt sound that bad, but we barely had any breaks, a really short lunch, and we were all pretty tired after so much VPCS, which is rpetty soul sucking even when it is herd health planning. Later on Thurs we went to this new bar called the Hill where they make Martinis (in Scotland these are hard to come by) so we went there for a bit. Fri on the other hand was a very short day! Just 1 hour of fluid calculations and we were done! So then we went into town and saw Dallas Buyers Club (really good) and then a group of us went to brew dog to try their new Vladamir beer that they made in protest of Russias anti-gay laws. Unfortunately they were out, so we're going to have to track it down later. They also have a bunch of vegan bar food that my flat mate can eat, so that was exciting for her, and just super tasty for the rest of us (fried haggis balls, yum!) Today I went to the GUU with my friend to watch Rocky Horror where they act it out along with the movie. It was really funny, and I always love Rocky Horror so it was a good time!
Now I'm just doing some work, possibly cleaning my room at some point, pretty chill evening. I also got my farmers weekly! So I'm excited to crack into that guy!

coffee!

I forgot to say that yesterday we got my flatmates birthday gift in the mail! We got her a verisimo from starbucks (on sale, woot!) so now we have a pod coffee machine for coffee on the go! Its nice that I still have my old drip guy for when I want to make any kind, but in the morning the pod things are great, plus it makes espresso and coffee and it's pretty nifty. She was really surprised, so short of giving her Tom Hiddleston this was a close second!
Other than that only had 1 class today, so did some work, grocery shopped, not really much going on. We're starting clin path of the endocrine system, so far so good but pam keeps saying its going to get complicated so we shall  see!

half way ball!

This past weekend was our half-way ball which was super fun! It's to celebrate us 3rd years making it half way through vet school! Crazy that we're closer to being vets than ever before, basically 1.5 years of school left then its rotations and we're done! scary! But it was a really lovely evening (though I use that term loosely as we ARE all vets, so it wasn't all classy) but all things considered it was an amazing night. Everyone looks amazing and we had a blast! One of our pharm profs sat at my table so we chatted a bit which was really nice!  I even got honorable mention in the speech about our class! On Sun we went to brunch at this new place and it was really good! I got a deconstructed breakfast burrito, and tried some of the french toast which was tasty as well.
This week not much happening, it'll be nice to have a free weekend to really get some work done. I also just booked a spot at the BSAVA conference in Birmingham during Easter break. Its 4 days, and set me back a whopping 156 quid (yikes!) but it counts for 1 week of EMS and my flatmate and I booked some extra lectures on haematology and incomplete margins, both things we are learning about and will most likely be examined on in May for multiple classes, so we were pretty excited about those! Plus it gives us some time in a new part of the country and we can meet vets from other schools, also that week of EMS is pretty nice! So that's me at 12 weeks now for this year, and 17 total!
