London!

This weekend we had a quick trip to London! Even though it was only 2 days it was a much needed break from rotations and a nice change of scenery. We flew in Monday morning and bopped around Hyde park and met up with my flat mate and another friend of ours who also decided to go to London this weekend. We had lunch at this super random pub on Trafalgar Square, which was really good, and then we went to go see phantom of the opera which was amazing!! Afterwards we finally headed back to our hotel to check in. We were staying above a pub that was actually really nice right across from Waterloo station. We were going to hang out at the pub a bit but it was really crowded, so instead we headed to my other friends hotel who we were there to see since they are in London on their honeymoon! It was great catching up with them and then we headed out to go to a Christmas market. We went to the one at the Tate modern which was actually really cute and had a really good dinner and gluhwein! Then we made our way back to the hotel and had another quick pint at the pub/our hotel before they left and we went to bed because the next day was an early start!
Sunday we went to the Harry Potter tour!! It was amazing! And it's Christmas time there so there were Christmas trees in the great hall and Hogwarts was covered in snow! It was so much fun I'll totally have to go again! By the time we got back into the city it was nearly time to grab our bus to get to the airplaine so we hung out at a pub and met up again with my flat mate and other friend.
It was a super quick weekend but a really fun one, but alas back to real life tomorrow!

Heading to London!

After a long week at the first opinion practice here I'm heading to London for the weekend! Super excited so it should be fun!

Equine and NAVLE

I'm 2 weeks into my Equine rotation and Monday I have the NAVLE, so that'll be fun. Its been very tiring with the late evenings and nights on call, so I haven't been able to as much work as I'd like it, but what are you going to do! Here's hoping I dont have to re-sit the NAVLE again in April!

Back in Glasgow

I'm back in Glasgow, just enjoying these last few days off before I start my equine rotation (which will be totally insane) so really just working on vet prep to prepare for the NAVLE. Its been super rainy and windy, so truly back to the Scottish weather, and a big storm/hurricane thing blew in over the weekend so its been pretty miserable weather, at least I dont really have any reason to go outside much! Other than that pretty boring, we had people over last night, sort of a last time to see everyone before rotations start back up and then its Christmas!

Waiheke island

Today was my last full day in New Zealand if you can believe it! It's been quite a whirl wind and now it's about to end! I left the b&b in the morning and headed out to waiheke Island to go wine tasting. I perhaps left a Wee bit later than I should have but this weekend I was on vacation so what are you gonna do. I found a parking spot (no easy feat!) and got on the ferry to the island. It's quite a nice place, it rally reminds me of the Napa area a lot, the rolling hills and sunshine really looks like CA. I eventually made it to Te motu (missy's favourite winery) for lunch and a wine tasting. It didn't disappoint! I probably spent far too much time there but it was so lovely and I really had a grant time. Down the road there was another winery so I figured I'd stop there and have some more tasting while I was here. It wasn't as good, but everything was hip and cool so I figured it wouldn't be, but the view was lovely. Saw some beef cows, trees, really nice! I've ascertained that there are at least 2 vet clinics here that I've seen so always a possibility! I wish I could have spent more time here, but that's the way it goes! While I was waiting for the ferry I met a 15 year old girl who might come to CA ski was giving her my vast knowledge about CA high schools! Lol but she seemed nice she should totally go for it! I was probably talking her ear off bit she seemed to appreciate it anyway.
So then, because I'm an idiot, I took the wrong ferry back and ended up at a different port than where my car was, so I had to take a taxi back to my car which was a huge pain. I guess I'll know better next time!
Now I'm at the airport for a while before my flight leaves, doing some vet prep and rehydrating before my long flight! It's been a whirlwind trip but I think I'm ready to get back home and real life!

Done with work

I'm now done with my placement ad it was a great 2 weeks! While some things were a bit repetitive, the nature of the job, I got to see a lot of new things and they were really great to bring me to stuff. I got to develvet some deer, saw that surgery (last I heard that cow dislocated her hip so who knows how that'll go), my last day we saw a bunch of sick cows and I corecrly diagnosed all of them, I got to be the one to explain everything to the farmer, and on a cow that died we didn't field PM and were right about the diagnosis! So it was all very exciting!
Sat I really just explored around the coromandel, driving and occasionally stopping and just having a chill day wth no time constraints. The whole area is lovely and it was nice to see a lot of the area. I stopped to use a public toilet and while I was in there or played music! Quite fancy! I'm staying at a B&B in Thames and the town is small but the place is amazing! After where I was staying, which was fine for what I needed it's a palace! The Internet is still shite but in getting the picture that it is everywhere. The guy who runs the place gave me biscuits and some boozy baileys thing when I got there and he's really nice. AND there's a cow in my backyard! After driving all day I really just chilled on the porch and enjoyed the sun and the view and just relaxing really before I go back and everything starts up again. It may not have been the most exciting day but I thoroughly enjoyed it! I even got back to the room in time to watch the sun set, beautiful!

Fun weekend!

So it was my first full weekend on the north island! On sat I slept in a bit and then went to breakfast at this cafe in town, which was delicious! The I headed out to hike the mountain that overlooks te Aroha. I thought it was going to be a leasirly stroll up to the top. Wrong! It was basically a 2 hour hike straight up the whole time, jeezo! By the time I got to the top I was knackered and I still had to come back down! But it was actually really pretty and the view was amazing, so it was totally worth it! Just beautiful! By the time I got back down it was mid afternoon so I just followed signs towards more nature things to see what popped up. There was a random track that I drove down which wasn't super interesting except that I met a horse at the other end of it so that was cool. Then I drove to a waterfall nearby and hiked up to the lookout point there. It meant another hike for my already tired legs but it was a really nice hike along a river and the falls were very pretty! By then it was evening so I was too tired to bother cooking so I got a Chinese takeaway and chilled the rest of the night.
Sun I got up early (not early enough to watch the rugby, but all blacks won!) and headed to waitomo caves to see the glow worms. It was really pretty seeing the and then I did some cave climbing and rafting in the dark which was really fun too, though quite cold! I even climed up a waterfall to get out, though initially I was a little terrified! On the way home I saw a sign for a kiwi place so I pulled in there and was just in time for the kiwi feeding! So I got to see her running around and even attack the handler when he was trying to feed her, pretty cute!! And I got to see a tuatara!! Which was awesome! By then it was later so I finally had to head home and now just doing some vet prep before bed and work tomorrow!

In Te Aroha

I'm now on the north island staying in a little town called Te Aroha. It's right by a mountain and is actually really pretty! On Monday I went to Hobbiton, which was amazing! So much fun! Then I still had some time to kill so I hiked around a bit on the mountain and it was so pretty.
This new practice is pretty cool. It's really big and they have lots of branches relatively close by so I've been to 3 now and there's another in Te Aroha that I may visit at some point. It's the end of repro season up here so I've been doing some CIDR programmes catching the last non-cyclers for the AI people. I also got to see a sequestrum removed from a heifers leg which was really cool! I wanted to see more but our grand idea of a TICA type anaesthetic was dashed when we realised that we didn't bring a giving set, and me giving her 20ml bonuses of the infusion wasn't really working out, so I became th anaesthetist. Which was good in a different rate so now I Am better at field anaesthetic monitoring. Also the sequestrum we removed was 11.5cm! Bananas! I've been vaccinating some calves as well and today I got to do a liver biopsy, so that was pretty cool. Today it's raining, typical! The Internet where I'm staying has been a little slow so that's been slightly irritating since I'm trying to work when I get back every night, but oh well! I need to figure out what I'm doing this weekend, probably something close by.
Hopefully the weather holds out!

First week on the South Island

So I've been on the South Island for a weekish now and it's been so lovely! My friends friend came and got me and have been so great, I was really lucky to have them here! My week of seeing practice has been so much fun, a nice combination of being busy but I've had some down time to do navle prep at the same time. It's been really fun spending time with locals and just being a part of the family more or less, also they have a great dog who is my new bff so that was great! I got to go to a calving, a botched castrarion, did some repro work, full herd health plans, and basked in the greatness of the rotary parlour, which is just the best invention. Everyone is super nice and the beer is fabulous. We also had some local wine from a client of there's which was really good. I've had some NZ cheese and made everyone snicker doodles, which they loved, introduced my hosts to tapatio and bagels and cream cheese, and just had a great time down here.
Sat we went to akaroa which was a French settlement and is just a really cute little coastal town and it was beautiful! We had fresh fish a chips (a MUST try everyone said) and walked around for a bit. Then we went into Christchurch and walked around. It's crazy that they are still trying to rebuild after earthquake 5 years ago and there's still rubble everywhere. Hopefully if I ever come back I'll get to see what it will eventually become! We also had these amazing yoghurt cone things where they mix the fruit in with it, so good. And There's a cool part of the mall that is all shops in storage containers because they all needed a place to go after the quake and they kept it, so it was a creative way to stay in business. All in all it's been a short but great week down here, and now I'm on my way to the north for 2 weeks!
I also should. Let that air NZ safety video is the men in black song but about airline safety, amazing!

Heading to NZ!

I'm finally heading to NZ for 3 weeks to do some EMS! I got to the airport nice and early, to find that my flight had been delayed because of a medical emergency. It wasn't terribly late, but it was gonna make everything a little tense. Fortunately Emirates is a really lovely airline, so they assured us that midflight they would come up with plans for us all, so that was nice. Once we landed there were people at the gate to collect us with new boarding passes and they walked is all through security and to the gate, so that was no problem!
The flight to Brisbane was surprisingly not too bad, I think cuz it's broken into more manageable times it hasn't been terrible. There also was cheap internet so I did some vet prep when I wasn't trying to sleep. When we got to Brisbane we basically disembarked, went through a weird mini security, and then re-boarded the same plane. Security I suppose!
I finally made it to Auckland after lots of traveling and made it through bio security with no troubles, though they decided to give my boots a bit of a scrub in the name of biosecurity. Then I made my way to the domestic area of the airport toured to Christchurch, and then I'll finally be
Done traveling! Looking forward to a proper sleep at this point and doing work tomorrow!

Week 1 of public health down!

I'm done with my first week of public health, and its been another pretty chill week. We learned how to use the captive bolt gun as well as some free bullet ones, so that was pretty interesting. We also got a chance to teach the 4th years like we were taught last year in the PM room. It was more teaching rather than quizzing since they haven't had some of the lectures yet, so they were a bit lost, but I had a good group so it wasn't too bad, they were pretty keen! Also I leave for NZ in ONE WEEK!

Also I should point out that I'll be away for my birthday, so if anyone was going to send me something I wont get it for a bit since I'll be away, so probably best not to in case it gets sent back! Everythings more or less sorted, just need to pack!

Onto Public Health

I'm done with the clin path bit of this rotation and now on to public health! Should be fun, the professor who runs it is hilarious and so fun to work with. We'll be doing things like visiting abattoirs, doing some PM room stuff, teaching 4th years (which will be really weird), I may get to do some stunning, so we'll see! Clin path was a little boring to be honest, it was mostly microscope work and basically being a pathologist, which isn't really practical to real world type of situations since I'll actually have a patient when I'm running bloods, but what are you going to do, can't argue too much with a week of half days! And I'm collecting all my stuff and preparing for my trip to NZ, leaving in less than 2 week! Now I just need to figure out what to do!

Booked!

Everything is officially booked for my NZ trip! I now have flights to and from Aukland and Christchurch and places to stay, so its official I'm totally going! Now I just need to figure out what to do!

PM room week DONE!

This week I was in the PM room, which was a nice change of pace from ECC. Its been a really nice week there, plus we've had a few tutorials on bacteriology and parasitology that were pretty helpful as well. I have Friday off, which is awesome! So now I'm mostly working on my portfolio, gross, and tomorrow probably doing a bunch of vet prep which will be extra fun. Also I booked my NZ flights so its official! I'm going!

Public Health and Pathology

This is the start of my PHP rotation and so far its been grand! We're in the PM room for the week and its a very relaxed schedule, its great to have some time to breathe and do some work, plus the PM room is always a good time. Today we worked on two horses so that was pretty ineresting and hopefully ome interesting cases come in. For now I dont have to be in until 1:30 tomorrow, so great!

Done with ECC!!!

This rotation is FINALLY OVER!!!! I'm so glad to be done with this crazy long and tiring rotation. It's been a lot of fun, stressful, I feel like I learned a lot, prescribed a lot of Sildenafil (10 points if you know its trade name ;) and now I'm done and I can sleep and have a bit of a break and study more for the freaking NAVLE. I also picked my NAVLE date, which was a bit of a faff, but its all sorted now so thats good. Next I have public health, so this weekend I'm going to finish the last few assignments that I have for ECC and doing a bunch of vet prep hopefully. Very exciting, but its nice to have some time to sort my life out a bit!

Done with nights!

After a crazy week of nights I'm DONE with nights! So glad to not be coming home when the sun comes up. It was really crazy, but it's finally over and I'm getting back into the groove. Now I'm on cardio which was SUPPOSED to be pretty chill, but so far we've been absolutely slammed, so who knows how the rest of the week will be! Only a few more days of ECC are left and then I'm done with my 2nd rotation!

Done with internal medicine!

I made it through my 2 weeks of internal med! It was a crazy 2 weeks but it actually was really fun, though a bit stressful at times, but its done now! We got some really interesting cases in, even a pretty exciting emergency when I was on lates the other night so that was pretty exciting! Its been interesting to see what kind of things get referred to specialty hospitals and look at fun things like MRI and CT that I wouldn't in general practice. Its also been helpful in a weird way to see how other hospitals work up cases and the correct and wrong way to work up certain cases and what steps people tend to miss out, etc. This week coming up I'm on out of hours, so I get to work 6pm-6am all week! Fun times! This weekend since we had it off and have been trying to stay up later in preparation for OOH we just wandered around city centre on Sat and it was so lovely outside! I got my vet ball dress (pretty early, but it was just so pretty!). Today we went to a ropes course thing up n Aberfoyle which was really fun. It was clear blue skies today and we ziplined over a big valley and there was an amazing view and it was really pretty! Nice to see the highlands when its not horrible and rainy outside! Tonight I'm just staying up as long as I can and drawing my blackout curtains to sleep in!

First week on ECC done!

This is the end of my first week on ECC at the small animal hospital and its been a crazy week! The first day was a bit mental but after that things smoothed out a bit and theres a much better flow going on now. I'm working Sat so hopefully its not too full of a day and we get some time to ourselves, and to decompress before next week (more like study so I don't look like a complete idiot) so we shall see!

Starting rotation #2!

Today I started my ECC rotation at the small animal hospital. At first it was a bit overwhelming, its a big place and they all expect a lot from us, but once we got going it was a bit better. At the moment I have 2 cases and I'm on consults tomorrow, so I may pick up a third. Last week I was at Lanark and it was really fun. I couldnt blog because the internet was SO SLOW, but it was a good week. I did a tup vasectomy and some calvings, helped deliver twins! Other than that just bits and bobs really, took bloods on 200 ewes and did herd checks and such. It was a really fun rotation, so hopefully this one will be too!

Herd visits

This week we've been on herd visits and its been really fun! A few very early morning starts (5:50am) but its been nice to get out to the farms again and pregnancy diagnose (PD) some cows! So far all my palpation skills have come in handy and its been fun to check my work so to speak with the ultrasound scanner. I passed my 2nd DOP today (vaginal exam) so I'm all done with those for this rotation, which is a huge relief! It was also so sunny and lovely today and we got to have a cup of tea with the farmer after the visit AND he had a rotary parlor and we got to see it in action, so cool! Tomorrow should be a fairly short visit and I think we'll be done at a reasonable time, so that'll be nice to get some stuff sorted for next week. Other than that not much going on here!

Sunday, August 9, 2015

First half down!

As of today I'm pretty much finished at the Galloway for this rotation, though we have treatments still on Monday to do. Its been a really fun 2 weeks and its sad that its ending. I've had a really awesome group of people to work with and even the professors liked us a lot and we all went to the Lock on Friday for drinks with some of the residents! My exit evaluation went well and then the next day I was right about this sheep having a brain abscess and where they were so that was pretty cool, even though when I was discussing with the clinician she looked at me like I was nuts, but it worked out. Yesterday I put a trochar in a bloated calf so that was pretty cool, our lame calf is so much better and hes getting really big, and we did a DA surgery on a cow and shes still alive so thats good. Next week I'm on herd visits so we'll be preg checking and I can do my other DOP which is vaginal exam, so I need to look up metritis scoring for that. Monday we have a surgery practical so that should be fun and I think we might get to practice a caesarian. Other than that really I've just been working, so I dont know how interesting it is!

One week down

So even though I'm already technically 3 months into 5th year, I'm one week down into my first rotation! Its been really fun, tiring, and interesting working in the production animal unit here. We're really given a lot of independence and case responsibility which is really cool, plus I get to play with cows and sheep all day. We've had some really cool cases, and some on PM that were a little underwhelming, though its still a good learning experience. On call this week I got to go to a LDA, which took 4 hours and was bananas inside, but I checked on her today and despite being opened up a 2nd time shes doing well! Hopefully she lives! And I'm on call today so I did treatments in the morning and currently I'm in the library doing work until its time for the night checks and calf feedings. So far its going well, passed my first DOP and passed (though it was boarderline) my CPE, so I think I'll do that again this week to improve on some of the things that I left out. I hear we're getting a few more cases in next week so hopefully its a another full week here!

Sunday, July 26, 2015

First rotation!

Tomorrow I start my first rotation! I'm super nervous but hopefully everything goes well! I dont know how much I'm really allowed to say about cases here but if anything fun happens I'll try to post about it, though I have a feeling I'll be pretty tired from here on out!

Niagra falls!

Now that I'm doing something interesting again I have something to post! This last week I've been in upstate NY doing some farm/equine/a little bit of small animal ems as well. I've seen some cool stuff and everyone is super nice so so far it's been a really fun placement! For my mini excursion for this place I'm in niagra falls for the weekend! I'm staying at this really cute motel run by an Australian family and they were nice and the room is comfy and I got breakfast, so not to shabby! Today I drove over to the boarder, parked and walked into Canada! So now officially I've been to Canada and my passport card worked so that was exciting. I started just walking around in front of the falls and they are really pretty. Then I walked though this little park and up to a brewery to have lunch where I sat on the patio and listened to music with my beer flight, which was very nice. Then I went to get picked up by my little tour that I booked. We went down to the observation deck and behind the falls which was really cool and then up into the space needle thing to get an above view of the falls. Then we drove to the rapids area and saw that area and the flower clock. Then we went on the hornblower falls tour and it was so pretty and really neat to get so close to the falls. We also got SOAKED! But it was really fun to drive by so close. Then I went to the hard rock (typical tourist) to have dinner, but it's on the patio and there is lovers of while I wait for the fireworks to start!
Then I watched the fireworks from the bridge between the U.S. and. Canada and they were really cool! The fly were lit up and everything! Now time for bed it's been a long day!

Yosemite!

The last few days of the week on EMS were fun. On Friday we preg checked a bunch of cows and the vet I was with let me go in first and the checked if I was right or not. There were a few I was wrong and one with a bunch of adhesions I couldnt feel anything, but I'm definitely getting better and its good to know that what I think I'm feeling is right! Then I left a bit early since there was nothing on a drove to Yosemite! It didn't take too long, but up there there was snow! And I drove into this big cloud bank which was worrying becuase I didn't really have anything in the way of winter wear. Fortunately Sat the weather was amazing! I hiked up to Nevada falls and back down by Verna falls and the whole trip was beautiful, I dont know why its taken me so long to get up there! I stayed in a little tarp cabin thing that was really all I needed and they had a restaurant and bar there, so it was all pretty fancy by my standards! I think it was one of my favourite EMS get-aways and I'm going to need to go back for sure! Now I'm just back at the practice prepping for my early day tomorrow!

Up before the cows!

Today I was up bright and early at 4am! When we arrived at the farm the cows were still sleeping, so you know it was early! I'm upping my PD game and starting to manipulate the repro tract and feeling new things and I used my left arm today so that was new, and a nice rest for my right! Them we went and vaccinated some calves. Afterwards I worked in the milk lab a bit and reading plates and looking at total proteins. Then I went with a vet to the sales yard where we thought there were going to be on a few calves to check, but in reality there were over 200! It was certainly a different world at the sales yard, maybe not my very favourite part of this job, but so far everyone here is really nice and helping me learn a bunch! I even learned a new type of organism that causes mastitis! Also I passed all my exams (all As by some miracle) so I'm OFFICIALLY in my 5th year!!!!! So excited for this upcoming year now that its finally here!

Tuesday, May 5, 2015

Rectals!

Today we had another early start (late by comparison) and did a bunch of PDs at a farm pretty close to the practice. I'm hoping that by the end of this my palpation will be much better, though I'm a little rust at the moment and sometimes its still hard to figure out whats going on in there, but getting there! Then they had me take the spare truck to go an help with some hernias again, so I did another one! This one was MUCH better than yesterdays, it looked less wonky so improvement! It was also a weird one, the stalk of the umbilicus was all attached and adhered to the omentum so it look ed really crazy, but they helped me sort through it since I felt it and was like what is happening in here? Tomorrow I'm up at 4am! This job is turning me into a morning person I guess!

Monday, May 4, 2015

First day of EMS!

We'll I'm at least pretending that its summer and its my first day of EMS here in CA! I started bright and early at 6:30 (and thats a late start!) and we headed out to a farm to do some umbilical hernia repairs. I got to watch the first one, and then I got to do one on my own! It took a while (my incision was larger than it should have been) but in the end the calf got up and didn't bleed to death so yay! Then we went to the sales yard and the vet I was with PD'd some cows for sale. Then we went back to the practice and that was pretty much the day. It seems like the schedule is mostly morning heavy but when you're back in the afternoons its done more or less. I helped them in the milk lab a bit and that was interesting to see since I dont think we do much in the way of milk plates in Glasgow. So depending on what tomorrow is like I may explore some of the town, though its cinco de mayo and it may be a bit crazy, but I hear there is good Mexican food round here so we'll see! The place is really nice though and the bed is super comfy! And since I'm still a bit jet lagged I'm probably going to crash pretty early tonight to gear up for tomorrow!

Homeward bound!

So this past week has been induction week. It's been a week of mixed emotions let me tell you, but it's nice to be done! We learned about 5th year, but we don't know if we passed 4th year so it's been a bit bitter sweet. Also we all found out on tues that Kenya pass away so that was really sad for all of us, but at least she went quickly and we're going to have a ceremony of some sort eventually. We found out our OSCE grades and I passed that which was good, but the we
Don't know anything about the rest of them so we're all still a little stressed, so who knows! Now I'm heading back to CA (hopefully for 3 months and not just 2 weeks to go do re-sits!) and I'm going to do a bunch of farm EMS and PD a bunch of cows! I'm really excited to go
Home, especially after the SNOW that we had this week!! Bananas! 5th year sounds like it's going to be really fun so here's hoping we all make it there!
Before induction week andy and I went canoeing around Stirling which was really fun! It was sunny and glorious! And then the next day we went to Loch Lomond and did a walking acting tour of Macbeth. Basically we Wales around a little worded area while actors did Macbeth. It was actually really fun and funny since they had the audience get involved and andy had to be banquoe the whole time so that was pretty funny! So a good weekend to enjoy that rare Scottish ah shine! (Though it did hail briefly, standard)
Here's some pics of the new flat and canoeing!

Sunday, April 26, 2015

Done, done, DONE!!!

With any luck (serious luck at this point) we are done with 4th year! We are also all moved into the new flat, which is absolutely glorious! Now just need to put everything away, who knew we had so much stuff! Yesterday we went canoeing out in Stirling and it was really fun! The sun was out and it was just lovely! Induction week starts next week which is totally crazy, we're going to learn about 5th year and I think there are some random talks that we have to go to, but theres a pizza party at the end so thats something! One more week and then I'm HOME!

I'm famous?

Not really but I forgot to post this guy a while ago

New flat!

We signed the lease and start moving some stuff in today, very exciting!

Monday, March 30, 2015

We're not homeless!!!

I didn't want to jinx it, but Micaela and I officially have a new flat! Its been such a pain looking for a new place, but its done now!

Study all day err-day!

Well nothing much to report over here, mostly I've just locked myself away and have been doing work. We went to see Rocky Horror in theatres the other day, still great! Last night we had friends over and had brinner (breakfast for dinner) and hung out a bit before it gets too close to exams to do much, so that was fun. Other than that nothing super exciting happening, the weather was lovely, but it seems to have changed back to the standard wind and rain, though when I have to be inside all day its not too bad!

Dome with EMS, now bak to work!

It was a great week off doing EMS work, but now back to the grind! Last week I did an entire dog neuter on my own from sedation to closure so that was pretty exciting! Also I actually contributed to the practice by making a diagnosis that they hadn't heard of and one of my old professors at a referral clinic agreed! Really it was mostly nice to just take a break from studying and bounce back after OSCEs, which were just terrible, but now time to start studying again for exams! 4 weeks of that and then induction week and (hopefully) I'll be a 5th year in 5 weeks! What!?

Back to EMS!

The first part of exams are over, and with any luck I'll never have to do OSCES again!! Now I'm doing a week of EMS back in uddingston where I worked last summer to regain my sanity. It's nice to feel productive again, and thinking about going straight back into studying was a bit much. Today nothing much happened it was pretty slow, but nice to be back!

Exam time

Last weekend was the weekend of dreams! We had mr vet school and vet ball which was super fun! Now it's time to crack down and keep studying for our osces, which I will surely fail, but have to study for anyways. Fun times abound here in Glasgow!

lsat day of class!

Today was our last day of class ever!! (well last day of CAS, we have some labs and what not still left) but its totally crazy! Last night was MR. Vet school which was, as always, hilarious and a nice break from the stress of looming exams. For the last day of class we all dressed like animals (so we all worse onesies!) and then took a bunch of class pictures in front of school and at Lisa's tree. And Kenya came to represent Lisa which was really nice, it was so great to see her! I can't believe that we are almost done!

Highland Wagyu

Yesterday I went on a farm walk with GFAVS to the highland wagyu beef farm. It was really fun and a nice way to get out of the city to see some cows! They were super friendly and the woman who runs the farm was really nice. We also saw their Angus operation on another part of the farm where they are breeding pedigree Angus for sale. They do a lot of genetic work, AI, have pure bred and various crosses on the farm. All in all it was a pretty good day with the coos!

Since exams are looming we decided to  have a gallentines day party at our flat tonight! Gonna play cards against humanity and crabs adjust humidity and hang out and (hopefully) talk about school too much!

Still working!

Noticing a theme?! We only have 2 weeks of classes and we are certainly feeling the pressure, followed by 2 weeks to study almost 200 lectures for the OSCE/CAS practical, easy right?! So things are a little tense over here, hopefully we make it out alive!

Snow and Ice

Its been really cold and snowy here the past few weeks so the whole city has basically been covered in ice, which is mildly inconvenient because there are a lot of hills. School is operating as usual, the schedule changes on the daily but other than that pretty much boring over here, which is why I haven't been blogging. I didn't get into the Cornell program so I have new EMS in NY during that time, so that should be fun. Other than that my life is pretty boring!
